Veramark: Slower Economy Shines Light on Telecom Expense Management

Striving to meet rising demand for cost-saving technologies that are gaining traction in this slower economy, a Pittsford, New York-based provider of telecom expense management, or “TEM” solutions announced today that it’s hiring three executives.

Officials at Veramark Technologies, Inc. say the hirings – Gary Miko and Keith Hadelman as regional sales managers and Matt Lennarz as director of product management for software – reflect the needs of companies in this protracted recession.

According to Tony Mazzullo, Veramark’s president and chief executive officer, as the economy continues to struggle, more companies are turning to expense management solutions as a means to improve the bottom line.

“We are committed to building and maintaining a team of knowledgeable, experienced professionals to serve our customers and meet the growing demand for our telecom expense management solutions,” Mazzullo said.

isn’t the only technology-related field that’s seen a spike in this economy.

As TMCnet reported today, a Dallas-based business process and IT services provider is hiring 500 workers at a local call center to meet rising demand.

A Web site operated by a San Antonio, Texas newspaper is reporting this week that Affiliated Computer Services Inc. is seeing hundreds of applicants express interest in the positions.

According to mySanAntonio.com’s William Pack – a reporter for the San Antonio Express-News – Mike McCart, general manager of ACS (News - Alert), says that his company has been “swamped.”

“We’re going to see 2,000 to 3,000 people in the next week or two,” McCart reportedly said.

The jobs include 20 to 30 management-level positions, with the overwhelming balance in entry-level jobs that require a high school diploma or its equivalent, basic typing and computer skills and a knack for working with the public, Pack reports.

Officials at Veramark say that Lennarz will guide the development of the so-called “VeraSMART Communications Management Suite,” the company’s TEM-enabling software application. Lennarz has more than 15 years of experience in information systems product development, project management, and telecommunications consulting. He was most recently eBusiness Product Leader at GE Capital Services, where he provided strategic direction and managed development of the Electronic Invoice Presentment & Payment software product for Xerox Capital Services, LLC.
